I went through a stage in my life where I only wore black jeans. I literally owned 3 pairs of the exact same pair of black skinnies and would put them in rotation throughout my week—even in the summer months.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ll probably never get out of my “I only wear black” state of mind, but as the temperatures get warmer (50-degree weather is warm for Boston standards), I find myself reaching for lighter color palettes. And when I say “color palettes”…no I’m not talking about yellows or pinks or purples; I’m talking about just light wash denim (because “denim” is a color in my book). And recently, I discovered the magic of these high-waisted vintage-style jeans from Madewell (they’re called the “Perfect Summer Jean” in Fitzgerald wash). I usually appreciate (NEED) a little stretch in my go-to-black pants, but these are surprisingly forgiving and equally as flattering.
I suggest sizing down from what you usually wear because they definitely stretch out as you wear them between washes. The salesgirl at Madewell armed me with that tip before I stepped into the dressing room, and oh boy was she tellin’ the truth. I’m usually a 26 in denim, so slipping into a pair of size 25 was odd – but they fit like a glove.
So, if you’ve seen me out and about recently, you’ve probably seen me donning these beauts. Or if you see me at all in the future, there’s a 98% chance I’ll be wearing them. Consider this your fair warning…
…and whatever you do, puhhhhhlease DO NOT greet me with a Kate Sanders classic:
To which I will obviously respond:
JK….you guysssss, of course, I will respond with some sort of shocked “omg you read my blog post?!?!?” response…hehe.
