I’m not someone who usually wears too much color, girlie patterns, or even dresses, because I’m way more comfortable in dark colors and/or a wide leg pair of denim jeans. But recently I’ve really been feeling the feminine silhouettes, pinks, and florals (…ps stay tuned for another post coming soon featuring a dress I stole from my sister’s closet for my trip to NYC last week…sorry Abby if you’re reading this mwahaha).
All my springtime Instagram #girlcrushing pointed me to this floral wrap dress from Privacy Please, and I couldn’t resist stepping outside my comfort zone. When I first saw Emily of The Lipstick Fever donning it in mid-May, I had that total basic “HAVE TO HAVE IT” reaction as I immediately DM’ed her for alllllll the details (and she sooooo kindly responded immediately with not only the brand, but also a direct link to purchase #tysm!). Then one day I found myself scrolling deep through the Discover page on Instagram when I saw it again…this time on one of my new favorite Instagrammers, Tamara from Champagne and Macaroons. Almost the next day I saw my OG blogger babe, Jules, wearing this magical kimono style dress, and I knew I had to get in on the fun.
So when I found it on Rent the Runway (#praisehandsemoji), I snagged it almost immediately. It was so comfy and so flattering. It was a little too low cut for what I usually feel wear, but in the spirit of shattering comfort zones I just decided to go with it.
I wore it for my Dad’s 60th birthday celebration. To celebrate his day, we surprised him with a sail through the Boston Harbor and then treated him to a fun, casual seafood dinner. It was such a special night spent with all of my favorite people. My dad did not stop smiling from ear to ear the entire time after we yelled “SURPRISE!”. There is truly nothing that makes me happier than knowing how much fun he had – and no, not even this dress could bring that level of happiness!
