I hardly ever wear heels. Even as short as I am, I don’t enjoy wearing heels at all. It’s definitely a comfort thing, but it’s also a weird confidence thing. I just don’t feel as confident in heels as I do booties, loafers, sandals or my favorite: sneakers. I think I just feel more comfortable owning my style when it’s a casual outfit.

However recently, I’ve been really into channeling much more feminine vibes – dresses, skirts, fun patterns and brighter colors. My best friend actually looked at the outfit options I brought to Newport this weekend completely puzzled by the belongings in my suitcase. But despite this sudden urge to break out the florals and colorful hues, I’ve obviously been keeping it super casual by pairing dresses and maxis with my new gingham Vans.

So this week’s “Erinspired By” series is all about how I’ve been inspired to test flowy silhouettes juxtaposed with playful rubber soles. Vans, Stan Smiths, Chuck Taylors, Air Maxes…I’ve been pairing them all with my longest hems and my favorite patterns.

Scroll to see a few of my favorite fashion girls who rock their sneaks and maxis with effortless style and endless comfort and check out how I interpreted the look in Newport, RI this weekend.
